Orion Wire and Davis Associates design custom cables for a multitude of industries and clients. Some of our Special Cable Projects are listed below. We have provided cables and consultative services to firms such as Boeing, Martin Marietta, Hughes, Harris Broadcast Div., and Crouse-Hinds. Among these custom items are specialized single conductors, high temperature cables, multi faceted composite cables and products that require a high degree of repetitive flexing (i.e. for the robotics industry). Single conductor customizations range from 40 AWG (0.009 in) up to 4/0 (0.820 in). The types of polymers most commonly used include PVC, PE, TPR, Polyurethane, silicone rubber, and a variety of fluropolymers. The conductor metals usually specified are copper and various plated coppers, stainless steel, and bronze alloys. The most common applications for this type of cable are in the field of medical and dental equipment and for automation and/or robotics. We frequently design cables to equal standard products offered by Belden and Alpha. In doing so, our expertise has significantly reduced our client's cable costs. We also have many flexible lead wires in stock that we use in the manufacture of multiconductor miniature cables. For the most part, our consultation is free of charge. We urge engineers, technicians, and purchasing managers to avail themselves of our expertise. During our interviewing, we often provide suggestions which bring a totally different perspective to the situation. Our clients typically have found that prior to speaking with us, their regular wire & cable suppliers or manufacturers do not have staff that can facilitate specialty design matters. When you contact us, you may want to have available the various specifications and parameters of your application, such as operating temperatures, electrical characteristics, specific size constraints, and information pertaining to the enviroment in which the cable will be operating. If you do not have data, or do not know what data should be considered, that's what we are here for. Call us on any questions. Let us provide you with quality engineering and product which will yield the best benefit possible to both your product's performance, as well as to your firm's bottom line profits. |
